Welcome to the Open Source Entrepreneur. This site started as a collection of useful things I’ve learned in my career. I decided to make it an open Wiki in the hope that many other people will contribute making this a valuable resource for a broad range of entrepreneurs.
The Open Source software movement shares source code with anyone who wants it. This site aims to share “entrepreneurial source code” i.e. the ideas that are practical and useful for entrepreneurs.
There are a million business-related books and websites out there. Finding good information that actually helps is still hard.
This site aims to help.
To get started, you need to Register with this site. You will need to provide a valid email address.
I ask for an email address for two reasons:
Under NO circumstances will your email address ever be provided to a third party or used to generate any kind of spam email.
Once you have registered, use the index at the left hand side of this page to browse all of the available topics.
I would hope that it is obvious that “caveat emptor” always applies with any online information source, especially built on an editable Wiki. However, just to make everything crystal clear, here’s the legalese:
The Owners of OpenSourceEntrepreneur.com make no warranty, express or implied concerning this Site, it’s content, software or products or services available through the Site (the “Site Services”), which are provided “as is”. The Owners expressly disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to warranties of fitness for a particular purpose and warranties of merchantability. In no event will the Owners, its affiliates or other suppliers be liable for direct, special, incidental, or consequential damages (including, without limitation, damages for loss of business profits, business interruption, loss of business information or other pecuniary loss) arising directly or indirectly from the use of (or failure to use) or reliance on the Site Services, even if the Owners have been advised of the possibility that such damages may arise. The Owners do not guarantee the accuracy, content, or timeliness of the Site Services.
I’ve worked for a number of companies, most of them small or start-ups, a couple of them quite large. I’ve started companies, been involved in several turn-arounds, and done some consulting. Most of my career has been spent selling and marketing software and related services. I also spent some time in the entertainment industry managing a 3D animation studio.
I grew up in England and have lived in the US for quite a few years. I did a stint in Silicon Valley and have lived in the Southwest for the past 12 years. I am currently relocating to North Carolina.
